Conference of ministers of justice on future of European Court on Human Rights has been held in the Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe with preside of Swiss Confederation in Interlaken city.

In the conference, Azerbaijan has been represented by Minister of Justice, President of the Judicial-Legal Council, Mr. Fikrat Mammadov, the President of the Supreme Court, Mr. Ramiz Rzayev, authorized representative of our country in the European Court, and other officials of the Ministry of Justice.

Minister of Justice and Police of Swiss Confederation, Mrs. Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe, Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, President of the European Court of Human Rights, Mr. Jean-Paul Costa, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Thomas Hammerberg made speech in the opening ceremony.

Defining of the most efficacious mechanisms on carrying out obligations that source from the European Convention on Human Rights, support to efficiency of European Court and other items were discussed in the reputable conference, in which ministers of justice of member countries of Council of Europe and other officials participated in.

It was mentioned that, there are great lack of urgent effective measures, with the purpose of keeping balance, due to high number of lodged complaints to the European Court, than its judgments.

Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan Republic, Mr. Fikrat Mammadov made speech on implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights, learning and employment of the European Court case-law. At the same time, participants were informed about improvements of judicial system, lead by President of Azerbaijan Republic, as well as measure on improvement of professionalism of lawyers, and motions were moved on improvement of the situation occurred both in Europe, and in member countries in this field. Both, the speech, which was made in English, that heard with interest and its translation to Russian, were distributed among the participators.

At the end of the conference the Political Declaration has been adopted, which involves action plan on measures at European and local levels.

Within the frame of the measure, productive exchange of opinions have been carried out, by holding meeting, with authorized officials of the Council of Europe, also with ministers of justice of several states.
