In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Deepening of the Reforms in the Judicial-Legal System" of April 3, 2019, work is underway to strengthen public confidence in the judiciary, increase transparency in the judiciary, and inform the general public. In this regard, the relationship with the media has been enhanced, speaker-judges were allocated for works with media by a decision of the Judicial-Legal Council, as well as the official was appointed in the Council and their list was placed on the Council`s website. A meeting was held with the participation of numerous media executives and journalists, the speaker-judges were presented to the media, as well as trainings and seminars were organized for judges and journalists.
As part of the ongoing activities, the Academy of Justice has held a training for speaker-judges on the theme of "Transparency in Judicial Activities".
Acting rector of the Academy of Justice of the Ministry of Justice Elchin Khalafov made opening speech at the event.
Aynur Sabitova, the head of the Ministry`s Human Rights and Public Relations Department, and Mushfig Alasgarli, the vice-president of the Azerbaijani Press Council, made speeches on the theme and underlined that the establishment of a speaker-judiciary institution serves for increase of transparency and clarity in the judicial system, increase of efficiency of justice and objective enlightenment of population about judicial activity.
They also spoke about the tasks standing before the judges and answered the questions of the audience.
The lecture on "The interaction of judges with the media" of the professor Juan (Joan) Barata Mir, an international media expert who was invited to the training, was listened at the event.
